OUR #GIVINGBACK PROGRAMME

Inspired Through Sport are one of the largest supporters of British athletes in the UK.

Our #givingback programme provides athletes with access to a number of different services to help them on their journey to success. We do this through funding public appearances in schools, businesses and community centres.

Our #givingback programme provides athletes with between £3,000 – £20,000 of funding per year.

Our programme provides athletes with free access to the following services:

PHYSIOTHERAPISTS

Having access to physiotherapy is a vital part of an athlete’s journey to success: whether it be needing a weekly massage to enable an athlete to keep the small ‘niggles’ that training produces from becoming major problems, or needing regular treatment and rehabilitation to bounce back from a significant injury. Physiotherapy can be the difference between not being able to qualify for a competition and winning that elusive medal!

Unfortunately for most athletes, the cost of physiotherapy can be a huge barrier to them being able to access this important service as it can cost anywhere from £40 – £80 per session, which is simply unsustainable for most.

Through our programme, we are able to arrange for our athletes to receive physiotherapy in their area for FREE!

If you are a physiotherapist who would be interested in joining our programme and working with elite GB athletes, please email us at info@inspiredthroughsport.co.uk

NUTRITIONISTS

The importance of good nutrition is often underestimated by those outside of the sporting sphere, but all the training in the world won’t help you reach your goals if you aren’t fuelling yourself correctly. Sports nutrition isn’t the same as a balanced diet – it’s about knowing what type of food to eat in every situation (preparation, recovery, etc).

However, this invaluable service is simply not feasible for athletes who have limited funding as the price of a single session can range from

£70 – £120!

The considerable cost of professional nutrition advice, as well as it is an important aspect of an athlete’s career, are the core reasons why this is one of the most popular services on our programme as we are able to arrange sessions for our athletes for FREE!

CAREER ADVISORS

When an athlete’s sporting career is coming to a close, many find it difficult to make the transition to a ‘normal’ career as they have

dedicated their entire lives to sport, so fear their CV’s aren’t extensive enough or worry that they aren’t equipped with

the skills to have a successful career in another area.

We recognise this to be a huge problem and we aim to help athletes to understand that the attributes which have made them successful in sport (determination, hard-working, adaptable, etc) are very sought after by employers. We offer our athletes access to career advisors to support them through this transition and onto the next chapter of their lives.

ATHLETE MENTORS

If an athlete competes in a team sport, there are often older, more experienced athletes within the team who are able to share and mentor younger athletes to help prepare them for major tournaments and different experiences. However, for those who compete in individual disciplines, they aren’t necessarily able to gain the knowledge and experience of those around them, as they are their competition.

We offer those athletes the chance to be partnered up with Athlete Mentors – these are experienced and successful athletes who are able to offer support to other athletes and give them the benefit of their knowledge.

HOLISTIC THERAPY

Holistic medicine is a form of healing that considers the whole person (body, mind, spirit and emotions) in the quest for optimal health and wellness. According to the holistic medicine philosophy, one can achieve optimal health by gaining a balance in life.

Holistic medicine practitioners believe that the whole person is made up of interdependent parts and if one part is not working properly, all the other parts will be affected. In this way, if people have imbalances (physical, emotional or spiritual) in their lives, it can negatively affect their overall health. This form of healing is becoming more and more popular amongst athletes and is something we are very proud to offer as it can have very strong results for improving performance.

CHIROPRACTORS

Similarly to physiotherapists, chiropractors aim to reduce pain, improve function and mobility for athletes. However, whereas physiotherapists treat the entire body, chiropractors have a specialist interest in neck and back pain. Chiropractors use a range of techniques including hands-on manipulation of the spine.

Many athletes, at some point in their career, will struggle with some form of back pain – and for anyone who has experienced back

pain themselves, they will know just how debilitating this can be – so it is really important that they can access treatment and recover in

order to continue to train and compete. However, with the average cost of a single chiropractic session being between £40 – £80,

it can be a real challenge for athletes to afford treatment. Through our #GIVINGBACK programme,

we are able to offer chiropractic treatment to our athletes for free!

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION TRAVEL

One thing that every elite athlete will have in common, no matter what sport they compete in, is that every year they need to travel the world in order to attend important international competitions. Without this, athlete rankings are likely to plummet and they stand absolutely no chance of qualifying for or competing in an Olympic or Paralympic Games.

Unfortunately, whilst international travel is a vital part of being an elite athlete, it is also one of the most expensive aspects of representing your country with a single trip having the potential to cost thousands of pounds! We offer our athletes support with these costs as we give them the opportunity to gain considerable financial support.

OUR CREATIVE MEDIA TEAM

We aim to promote our athletes through our creative media team in order to build their profiles which, in turn, can give them

the opportunity for sponsorship and funding. We achieve this by promoting our athletes through our various

media channels as well as creating press releases for high-profile media outlets.

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS

The English Institute of Sport state that “Performance Analysis is driven by a sports needs to understand and improve tactics, technique,

and movement, achieved through the delivery of real and lapsed time objective feedback. The discipline focuses on enhancing

interventions within the coaching process to elicit a performance gain and augment learning. Essentially informing the athlete and coaches

what actually happened as opposed to what they perceive to be happening. Research shows that on average, athletes and coaches

can only recall 30% of performance correctly.  Performance analysis helps with the remaining 70% by providing the facts of what

happened which makes it a vital component for athlete improvement.”

Performance analysis can be a really important tool in achieving the ‘marginal gains’ that every athlete aims for in order to achieve success. Through our programme, we aim to partner up athletes with performance analysists for free to support them on this journey.
